  7. The federal Internal Revenue Code imposes an environmental
  8. tax on the "alternative minimum taxable income" of certain
  9. large corporations.  The tax applies at the rate of 0.12%
  10. on all corporate alternative minimum taxable income of over
  11. $2 million.  Note that this this provision is slated to ex-
  12. pire after 1995.  However, the Clinton Administration is
  13. supporting an extension of this tax, at least through the
  14. year 2000, and perhaps permanently.  (Section 59A of the
  15. Internal Revenue Code of 1986)
